Meet The Board of Directors 2023-2024 |
I have worked as a litigation paralegal at Williams Porter Day & Neville since 2015. My position was made possible by getting to know another paralegal – through LAW – who put in a good word for me when the firm was hiring. The networking is one of the best benefits of being a member of LAW. I have greatly benefitted from my LAW membership in other ways as well. I won LAW’s Outstanding Student scholarship in 2007, and won the CLA/CP Attainment scholarship in 2008. I was the LAW Outstanding Member (along with Tammy Wuertley, ACP) in 2018, and I received the NALA Affiliate Award in 2020. I have chaired the LAW Awards Committee for many years. I have been on the LAW Website Committee for many years as well. I was LAW’s Secretary in 2014-2015, Treasurer in 2017-2019, NALA Liaison in 2019-2020 and Region 3 Director in 2022-2023. I was born and raised in Colorado. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. I met my husband, Wallace, in college at CU-Boulder. We got married in Guam, USA where I worked as a radio and TV news producer, reporter and anchor for three years. I continued as a radio broadcaster for KSL in Utah for another two years, and then Wallace’s job moved us to Oregon. We were in Portland for a couple years, and then we moved to Eugene where Wallace went to law school at the University of Oregon, graduating in 2000. We moved to Casper in June 2005 and Wallace opened his own law firm. As a new, solo-practice attorney, he needed the help of a paralegal. By August 2005, I was enrolled in the Casper College Paralegal Program. After a few years, Wallace closed up shop and took a full-time position as the Deputy City Attorney (Civil) at the City of Casper. I worked for seven years for personal injury attorney R. Michael Shickich. In the meantime, I graduated with my Post-Baccalaureate Paralegal Certificate in May 2008, and passed my NALA CP Exam in July 2008. Wallace and I have been married 30 years. We are active adventurers. We enjoy scuba diving, whitewater kayaking, downhill and cross-country skiing, and roller coasters. We also enjoy watching Denver Broncos football with our cat, Oliver, in the fall/winter. I also enjoy making jewelry, coloring, holiday/home decorating, hiking, growing flowers and performing in musicals, skits and choral productions at my church. We have served as a Pre-Martial Mentors at our church for about 4.5 years, and about 2.5 years ago we started hosting a Friday night group/Bible study for "young professionals" (singles ages 20–30). |
